Vacation June 2018

The next several posts will be from our vacation to Niagara Falls, Massachusetts, New York & New Jersey.

As we were talking about our trip several months ago, we realized that there were so many things along our route that we would love to see, it would quickly be out of our vacation budget. Tamara and the kids upped our eBay business to see if they could pay for all or at least a good portion of the trip. They didn't accomplish paying for all of it, but made enough to be able to do several things that we wouldn't have been able to do otherwise.

Our itinerary:

We left home Thursday, June, 7 and headed to Niagara Falls. We arrived at Ft Erie, Ontario Canada for the night. We spent most of Friday at the falls, walking from the Canadian side to the US side. We headed to the convention at Dunnville for the Friday night gospel meeting and were able to be there for all of the meetings Saturday and Sunday morning.  We didn't realize the convention was going on when we started out on our trip, but while we were traveling we had an email from someone mentioning the convention at Dunnville. We looked on the map and realized it was only an hour away so decided to condense our tour of the falls and head over. We were really glad for the extra special bonus!

Sunday night we reached the Boston area. We headed over to Plimouth Plantation Monday morning and then went out on a whale watching boat ride in the afternoon. For supper, we visited the couple that I (Tamara) was a nanny for when I was a teenager. They took us on a nice walk of their historic town of Mattapoisett, MA and fixed us a delicious seafood supper. It was so nice to catch up with them after 20 years!

Tuesday we went to Boston visited the USS Constitution and walked the Freedom Trail. Todd and the kids swam in the pool at the hotel Tuesday evening while I caught up on laundry.

Wednesday we spent the morning at Old Sturbridge Village and then drove to New Jersey in time for an evening Bible Study with some friends there.

Thursday morning we got up really early and caught the ferry to visit the statue of liberty. We climbed the stairs up to the crown and back down again and then headed over to NYC to the Intrepid Museum. Mark K. and Dale P. met us there and spent the rest of the day with us. After we were finished at the museum they took us on a little tour of the city. We walked to Times Square and ate pizza for supper at John's of Times Square. After supper, we headed back to New Jersey to the home of some of our friends to spend a few days with Jane E. and Maegan P.

Friday we headed to the home of some friends for lunch. Won C., Mark and Dale met us there. It was really nice to have a visit with Won! After our visit there, we went to the quaint little town where we were staying and walked around the downtown area. After some treats from the ice cream shop, we headed back to our friends' home for a delicious Indian supper. They had invited several friends over for the evening, so we got to know some new friends, too.

Saturday we went to visit some twin lighthouses. Then we drove around the oceanfront for a while and got out to stick our feet in the water. Somehow the boys and some of the girls ended up wet from head to toe.

After Sunday morning meeting and another delicious Indian meal for lunch, we had a quiet afternoon and then went to gospel meeting. After the meeting, we went to some friends house for supper and visited with them until time for bed.

Monday morning we headed back towards home. We stayed in Columbus, Ohio for the night before dropping Todd off at the airport Tuesday morning to go to a business meeting in South Dakota. We got home in time to head out to orchestra practice.
