Renegade calf

Last night Jeff and Joel were here for a visit.  We were sitting around the supper table and getting ready to settle into a nice evening of visiting, maybe playing some games and singing around the piano when someone drove into the driveway with the news that we had a calf out.   So, our evening turned into hunting an untamed calf with flashlights (the people had the flashlights, not the calf, although it would have helped if the calf had been carrying one!) through the tall grass that had turned the same color as the calf during autumn.  We'd get her around close to the open gate and she'd bolt back through our line of people and we'd have to start all over.  Finally, we gave up and decided to try again in the morning.  This morning after an hour and a half of listening to her mama bawl for her, she decided to come up for some breakfast, and back into the pasture she went...  It was a beautiful clear evening, anyway.  And it was really nice to come back in to sit by the fire to warm up chilly feet.  Thanks for joining in the search, Joel, and thanks for entertaining the youngers, Jeff!
