We had such a crazy fun time around here on Thanksgiving that I forgot to get the camera out. Here is my one picture of the weekend -

Clint & Dawn's family got here about 20 minutes after we got home from Bible Study Wednesday night, and Dad and Mom came before lunch on Thursday. Some of the older kids got up early Thursday morning and went out scouting to see if they could find any deer. Imagine their excitement when they found a "huge" buck that had been hit on the hind quarters and wasn't getting around very well. They tracked and followed him for quite a while and then left him in hopes that our neighbor could come and shoot him with a bow later on. Unfortunately he didn't stick around for them.
The men and kids spent most of Thursday morning cutting, chopping and stacking wood while the rest of us made lunch. The little kids spent a lot of time on the trampoline and running in and out of the house to play with toys, and then in the afternoon they all took turns riding Beauty (well, except for Tyler and Michael whose feet would about touch the ground when they got on her.) Dad and Mom went back home after supper while Dawn, Todd and I braved Wal-mart and Clint stayed home with the 13 younguns. Not sure which place was more wild and crazy! I'm not sure I should admit that we stood around for 6 hours waiting for our bargains, but we did get some good visiting and people watching in (and we got our bargains, too)!
Friday was spent playing outside, exploring the woods and pastures, riding the horse, getting some more wood in, playing games, goofing around, and eating some more. The Brown family left Friday evening ~ their time here went much too fast! Thanks for coming Dad & Mom, Clint, Dawn, Tyler, Michael, Daniel, Cameron, Meredith & Kendrick!!!! And THANKS for your help with the firewood ~ We're enjoying the fruits of everyone's labor tonight while the wind whips around the house!
Sounds like the perfect holiday! I can't believe you stood for 6 hours! (But together without kids makes that a pretty long date night! :) )
ReplyDeleteI love a good bargain, but I haven't yet braved any Black Friday shopping. Oh, take that back, many years ago the kids & I were at Woodfield in Chicago "people watching" while waiting to pick up Rob when he got in from a trip. The only thing we shopped for was lunch, otherwise tried to stay out of everyone's way and watch the entertainment of crazed shoppers - it was a madhouse! And that was during the day, not middle-of-the-night hours. Good for you for sticking it out and getting what you went for!
