Out again!!!

We finally got the fences to keep the animals in. Well...except for the 3 sheep that like to get out under the bottom wire that isn't connected to the charger... But...if the gates aren't closed, it doesn't matter how hot the charger keeps the fence, the animals will get out! And the gate must have opened itself, nobody else seems to know how it got opened... :) My consolation is that I was talking to one of our neighbors the other day after I found one of his cows on the road. He said that in his experience, if you have cows, you can just expect that they will get out.

We woke up to 5 cows out in the yard. By the time we got out there, they were headed for the road...then across the road...then into the neighbors newly growing corn field. Those tender plants must have been pretty delicious, because the cows wouldn't be enticed even by buckets of corn. We were finally able to persuade them back across the road and into the fence again. Mom, you'll be glad to know that the cows that got out were our more gentle cows and not any of the bulls. In fact, Samson went home this week, so he and Fred won't be fighting anymore.

We have union meeting here tomorrow, so we spent the day getting ready for it. Talisha came over to help me wash windows and clean - thanks Talisha :) - while Todd was at B'town helping with the building. We are having a Mexican Themed potluck for lunch afterwards. We put together some taco fixings and made some refried beans, black beans and fresh salsa for it. Laura and some of the other kids made some snickerdoodle cookies while I was out mowing - they did a great job (I snuck one for my bedtime snack ;) ) It will be interesting to see what everyone else brings.
