Learning to ride
Now that we have one pony, I can see that it would be so much fun to have a horse for each of us. I watch the kids riding around the yard and pasture, and it makes me want to hop on a horse and ride with them. It's not something that we will be doing any time soon, if ever, but I'm glad that we were at least able to find a pony for the kids to share. Until this evening, they were just riding for 5 or 10 minutes each around the yard. That was about all the horse wanted to do in the heat. They would go out for a while in the morning and then again in the evening when it wasn't so hot. Tonight, though we went back into one of the pastures so they could ride down the hill and around in the tall grass. What fun!

We had just one horse, and always wished we had 2! Doug calls them hay burners! Our 29 year old gelding died this past December of colic, and we miss sure miss him. Sounds like you got the perfect horse; older, quiet, calm.
